Today, we are proud to participate in a remarkable initiative in Kenya called Planting Seeds of Change: Trees for Education, an effort that aims not only to plant trees but also to grow opportunity, resilience, and hope. This program is based at Imani Christian School in Embu, Kenya. It is inspired by the vision of UNASDG Ambassador Geoffrey W. Oguna, who emphasizes the power of sustainable development to create lasting change.

What Is “Trees for Education”?

“Trees for Education” is a sustainability initiative with a mission that extends well beyond planting trees. 

The program brings together:

At its core, the program involves planting trees on school property and surrounding community land. But planting is just the first step.

Each tree:

• reduces climate impact

      This means one seedling has many layers of impact, helping the earth and the students who plant it.

The program is part of a broader United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) framework that aims to improve the quality of life, strengthen local economies, and increase educational access in underserved areas. After one year of growth, each tree enters the international carbon market, where its environmental value becomes a financial resource. That resource then directly funds the education of children at Imani Christian School.

To date, Temecula Coffee Roasters has funded over 6,250 tree plantings, and the number continues to grow with each purchase.

✔️ Step 1: Funding a Seedling - For every $0.50 of revenue received, one seedling is grown at the Imani nursery.
100% of this funding goes directly to the program.

✔️ Step 2: Planting the Seedling - Students volunteer to plant the seedlings on school grounds or in nearby community plots.
This builds hands-on sustainability education directly into the curriculum.

✔️ Step 3: Growth and Environmental Impact - Over the year, the tree grows, stabilizing soil, boosting biodiversity, and absorbing carbon.

✔️ Step 4: Entry into the International Carbon Market - After one year, each tree qualifies for participation in the UNASDG-backed International Carbon Market, where it generates carbon credits.

These credits hold financial value.
